Dreams and Ambition

While many think that science fiction movies can’t be connected to early American writings, the movie Weird Science by John Hughes shares similar ideas as those of early American writing. Before Wyatt and Gary created Lisa to help them become popular, they were bullied at school and were casted out by everyone. The boys find no place for them in their old identity, so they created Lisa to escape that reality and enter a new identity where they are popular. The boys in the movie were driven by ambition, dreams, and imagination as their main force to become popular. Early Americans also shares the ambition, dreams, and imagination to live a better life in America. Through the ability to dream and have ambition, the boys in Weird Science and the people in early America would found success in their goal. The key idea in the movie is that people are allowed to dream, and with the help of others, they can find success in their aspiration.
